I thought that these truths were self-evident – I was wrong

This is one of two pictures/reproduction I have at my study at home dealing with a dream. The third one is the beginning of the story of Ruth.
—————-
This is Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr at this monumental speech. He was an amazing human and one of the greatest leaders and personas of the 20th century.

He was a great supporter of the Jews and the state of Israel.
—————–

From this speech come also these lines:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

“I have a dream today!”
++++++++++++++

I had a dream as well, that following in the great footsteps of my parents’ education and their parents’ education that I will live in and leave behind a state with an inspiration that all men are created equal.

That this statement does not prohibit our natural right to this land, the right to defend our selves vigorously and to chase to death those who seek to destroy us.

It seems that my dream of leaving to our sons a more just country and one that celebrates civil rights is actually a false hope.

Our generation is probably leaving a richer state but a much poorer country.
+++++++++++++++++

I thought that these truths were self-evident.

It seems I was wrong.
+++++++++++++++++

I am sorry I could not do more.

I did all that I could.

That did not make one ounce of a change.

It did, however, change me.
