Europe through the shattered glass

Translated from Hebrew by Mauricio Szwerdszarf 11/11/2016 – Written on 20/11/2015 by Dan D. Aridor

Marking 77 years since the German Kristallnacht (November 9, 1938) and in light of the fact that Jews would not be able to attend the Kristallnacht Commemoration in Sweden because of fear for their safety (The same Kristallnacht which afterwards, just to mention, no European nation cut its relations with Germany), the European Union announced on a Kristallnacht Commemoration seemingly politer, again only towards the Jews

There are about 100 territories conflicts around the world (including Europe itself, the Turks in Cyprus, etc.) There is ethnic cleansing of Christians in the Palestinian Authority, there is trafficking of women, slavery and mass murder of Muslims, who are not Muslim enough (not to mention the Christians and other Muslims) around what was once the Fertile Crescent. And of course, the collapse of the democracy of Ataturk in Erdogan’s Turkey. However, of all these wretched, Europeans once again chose to highlight the people who were, tortured marked and banned without precedent in global history

History will remember those who took this unfortunate decision, carrying on the traditions of the great anti-Semitic Europeans and condemn them. Despite everything that Europe made the Jews go through for many centuries that lasted over two thousand years, this Europe, which was witnessed the most horrifying genocide ever known to mankind, and who was also an active participant in it, chose again to mark Jewish products.

It’s the same Europe that during the darkest days of the Yom Kippur War did not allow American aid planes to refuel on their land on their way to Israel (America, who saved Europe in two world wars and a cold war). This is the same Europe, which did not even allow aircraft to pass above their skies on their way to Israel. American airlift flew on the exact border air line between Europe and Africa and fueled in the Azores of Portugal. It was Portugal, under military dictatorship at the time that helped Israel and the Americans, not the so called enlightened and moral Democrats of Europe.

Just three years before, Nobel’s laureate and German Chancellor Willy Brandt (7 December 1970) dropped to his knees in front of the monument that marks the fighters of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and wept like a child as an act of apology. He said then, given the weight of history and this place, this was the only gesture that he was capable of. This is the same Chancellor who later refused to help the Americans and allow them to refuel in Germany on their way to help survivors of that Holocaust inflicted on the Jewish people by his own people… it is that same Europe of the decision to mark Judaic products.

This is also the same in Europe that for three terrible weeks during May-June, 1967 did not come to besieged and threatened Israel’s aid despite promises to “never again” and then there would have been no “territories” that are the source of all the problems, so it claims.

It is also the same Europe that now in 2015 runs into the arms of anti-Semitic Iran, who threatens, after 77 years since that night, with the final solution for Jews.

That Europe…

Appropriate Zionist response to the EU’s declaration on product labeling would be the Israeli government’s declaration on the construction of thousands of housing units to ease the housing shortage more with emphasis on the areas of Judea and Samaria. Severing all contact with the Quartet and severing all contact with the EU representative in Israel as an act of protest and denial of his diplomatic status.

The State of Israel must not remain silent on further European Kristallnacht. Thank God we can and it’s not because Europe but despite Europe!

The reality is that marking products from Judea and Samaria will mostly hurt poor Palestinians and drive them further into poverty and suffering. But it will just accelerate processes already taking place in Israel. Already the Israeli sophisticated export is mainly in areas that are critical components of the software, hardware or industrial products. The export trend is changing, and it actually widens and deepens into markets in the east, including India and China. The marking will also accelerate industrialization and increased sophistication in Israel.
Nevertheless, more importantly what anti-Semitic Europe and its current leaders do not know is that this decision (in my estimation) will be one of the most obvious signs of the end of the European period. Signs from Sweden and Germany and other places strengthened. Immigration policy introduced by Merkel and central Sweden and other countries has already collapsed. There is anger on the streets of Europe as well as a strain on social services Europeans.

Only a year ago the Swedish foreign minister, the one with the bureaucratic career in the bureaucracy of the European Union, gave advice to Israel about what is right and what is not. She has the formula she said. A few days ago, she announced that Sweden was collapsing in light of immigration policy, which did not bother her to again give advice to Israel a few days ago on the pages of the “The paper for thinking people.”

The change in Europe will come faster than the current leaders understand and with them, the filth of this decision will be washed away. The bad name of the people who received it will be remembered – it.
